Last Post Ceremony

Performed every night at 8 pm since 1928 (except for the time Ieper was occupied by the Germans during WWII).

The ceremony is performed by members of the Ieper firebrigade who are occasionally joined by Commonwealth band, regiments, choirs, etc..

The Menin gate was build to carry the names of the soldiers lost in battle from the beginning of WWI till august 1917. The names of the soldiers lost in battle after august 1917 are on the Wall of Remenbrance at Tyne Cot Cemetery
